The Lloyd Student Energy Team will be sponsoring some fun, socially-distanced events the week of 4/19-4/23.   We want EVERYONE to get involved – so here are the details 🙂
Monday – Kickoff the Nature Scavenger Hunt – prizes for students who find the most items (all EarthDay themed) and take pictures throughout the week – submit to Ms. Stolz in Room 11 by emailing or showing on phone between classes – she will mark everything off on a big poster hung in First Hallway – one grade level wins – only students who participate for their grade level receive the fabulous Eco-Friendly prizes!  (scavenger hunt will be printed to distribute to students Monday morning in 1st period prior to announcements – a digital copy will be emailed to each student – please also post in GC’s to help encourage them to participate – it is attached below!)
Tuesday – Energy Superstar Breakfast for Teachers – our annual breakfast to celebrate YOU will be pre-packaged (no pancakes/eggs/bacon – but significantly more healthy – and COVID-free!) this year in the Teacher’s Lounge with info about resource conservation & prizes for those who come down to see the energy team kids share.  Come on down starting anytime after 7:30 am.  We appreciate all you do to help us be eco-friendly – even in a pandemic world!
Wednesday – Wear Green & Get Outside – students/staff wear green that day and all teachers are encouraged to take their class outside for at least one part of their lesson (reading a book in the grass, taking a jog around the track, playing their instrument in the sunshine, sketching pictures of cloud shapes, serenading the maintenance staff with a choral arrangement, etc) – then take a socially distanced group picture of everyone enjoying the great outdoors to send to Mr. Wilmhoff!
Afterschool Weds – Campus Beautification Walk – interested students meet outside room 11 at 3 pm for a walk around campus to collect trash, discuss storm drain management, and participate in the Energy Trail stations
Thursday – Trash to Treasure Jugg Sculpture Contest – each room will be delivered a container of “trash” (discarded materials Ms. Stolz & the staff have cleaned and collected for several years) to repurpose into a Juggernaut sculpture during the Thurs&Fri “house” time between 8 am and the announcements – each class will also be given information about how many pounds of trash have been saved from a landfill and recycling/upcycling/repurposing practices.  Sculptures will be displayed and “judged” the following week.  Only thing you will need to provide is perhaps a stapler – and an awesome, positive support for participation by your early-morning group! 🙂
Friday – Garden Plantings – science teachers will bring their students out to the courtyard garden to select a succulent to plant in a little recycled pot and take home (or give to a staff member)
